EXPLORERS

Dedicated to a few explorers - humans or sent off by humans, exploring realms of this or other worlds. Not necessarily geographical, tangible spaces, as the odd-one-out track shows...

Please note: Real Player is needed to play the track samples.

1. Columbia - The Last Flight

Dedicated to the memory of the astronauts on board the Columbia space shuttle, tragically disintegrated on re-entry. Fragments from the communication between monitoring stations and flight control were taken from a NASA recording.

2. Hillary & Tenzing

The two great men who took on the might of the Himalayas. The disregard of Tenzing's achievement is one of the most disgraceful gestures of the British Empire...

3. Marco Polo

Dedicated to that great adventurer and explorer who changed our perception of what lies to the East from us... even if many of his claims could never be substantiated, his journey remains a unique venture into the unknown.

4. Weimar Variations

Humble hommage to that unique explorer of sound, the 'Eternal God of Harmony' as Beethoven called him- J. S. Bach.

5. Voyager - The Ascent

A piece of fractal music, with human arrangements & harmonisations... Dedicated not just to the great emissaries of our planet, the Voyager 1 & 2 space probes, but also to the person who was instrumental in the Voyager programme, the late Carl Sagan.

6. Outland

Dedicated to space explorers - human or otherwise... who took the first tentative steps, wandering off the shores of the great Cosmic Ocean, as Carl Sagan described it...
